Reduce Anxiety By Accepting Uncertainty

Life is full of uncertainties and predicting the future accurately is daunting, if not impossible. Hence, people tend to worry about various facets of their life, in particular the future. As long as this worrying is productive and acts as an incentive to work or a spur for action, then all is well. On the contrary, if worrying becomes a hindering influence on life and starts preventing you from living your life to the full, then you have a problem on your hands.

Pretty soon, your anxiety levels will rise to such an extent that you will be flirting with the onset of an anxiety disorder. Thus, it is imperative that you deal with your anxiety now and accept uncertainty for what it is. Constantly fretting and distressing over what could, or should, or would, happen will get you nowhere. Yes, planning for the future is all well and good, but when you’re planning takes up hours, or even whole days, of your life on a regular basis, you need to accept that you can not plan for every possible outcome.

Life will always throw your way a few surprises which you wouldn’t have expected in the least. Moreover, thinking about all that could possibly go wrong doesn’t really make life more predictable, in fact it makes it a dreary burden more than anything else. If you’re one of those people who keep fixating about the future and what could happen, you need to sit yourself down and ask yourself whether focusing on the worst-case scenario would really stop bad things from happening. If anything, such a fixation will just prevent you from enjoying the sunny days of your life.

Once you’ve seen the light and realized that no matter how much you worry, you can not stop bad things from happening, you need to then make the most of your good days. To speed up the process, you need to ask yourself, whether you’d let a minute chance of something bad happening ruin the ample chances of you having a great time.

Just remember that worrying on its own will never get you anywhere. Either you take action and come up with a solution, or else, you stop fixating on something you know you can’t control. Rather, think about the good things that life has to offer. Uncertainty doesn’t necessarily have to be negative; it can be positive as well. Think of all the good things the future might be bringing for you. At least with this fixation, you’ll be a happier person.
